Buchvorstellung: "A Double Burden. Israeli Jews in Contemporary Germany"

Prof. Dr. Uzi Rebhun (Jerusalem)

18.01.2023 um 19:15 Uhr

This is the first major study to critically analyze Israeli-Jewish migration to Germany. This book combines complementary approaches to track the migrants’ reasons for making the move, families’ reactions, settlement in the new country, social and economic integration, construction of identity, and the perception of old and new antisemitism in Germany.

Uzi Rebhun is the Shlomo Argov Chair in Israel-Diaspora Relations and head of the Division of Jewish Demography at the A. Harman Research Institute of Contemporary Jewry of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He received his doctorate from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and was trained as a post-doc at the Center for the Study of World Religions of Harvard University. He has written extensively on Jewish migration, the Jewish family, group identity, Israel-Diaspora relations, and antisemitism. His books include, among others, Migration, Community, and Identification and Jews and the American Religious Landscape.

Der Vortrag findet in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Kulturzentrum der Israelitischen Kultusgemeinde München & Obb statt.
